From doula training to provider education, our work builds pathways to care that are accessible, respectful, and rooted in relationship.
Family & Community Support Programs.
ROBWI provides relationship-centered support for pregnant people, families, and caregivers across rural Oklahoma. Our Family & Community Support Programs are designed to reduce isolation, strengthen continuity of care, and help families navigate pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting with clarity, dignity, and support.
Through direct connections to doulas, mentorship and peer support, resource navigation, care coordination, and community-based events, we meet families where they are and respond to the realities of rural access and lived experience. Our approach centers trust, cultural humility, and trauma-informed care, recognizing both the strengths and challenges present in rural communities.
These programs focus on building connection, increasing access to support and resources, and ensuring families feel seen, supported, and informed throughout their journey.
Community Doula Connection Program
ROBWI connects pregnant and postpartum families with trained, trauma-informed doulas who understand the realities of rural communities. This program helps families find support that is accessible, relationship-centered, and aligned with their needs and values.
Through this program families are connected with doulas trained through ROBWI's workforce development pathways and supported in understanding available services and options. Emphasis is placed on continuity of care, trust, and reducing barriers that can make accessing support feel overwhelming or out of reach.
The community Doula Connection Program strengthens both families and the local workforce by fostering meaningful connections that support informed, supported experiences through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum
Community Essentials & Donation Redistribution Program
ROBWI accepts new and gently used maternal, postpartum, infant, and family items and redistributes them to families experiencing need. This program is grounded in dignity, care, and community responsibility, ensuring families have access to essential items during pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting.
All donated items are thoughtfully sorted, cleaned, and prepared before being distributed. Support is provided without judgement, recognizing that access to basic necessities is a critical component of family wellbeing and stability.
The Community Essentials & Donation Redistribution Program strengthens community care networks by turning shared resources into meaningful, practical support for families.
Perinatal Mentorship & Peer Support Program
ROBWI provides relational mentorship and peer support for pregnant people, their partners, and caregivers navigating pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. This program centers connection, shared experience, and emotional support as key elements of wellbeing.
Through one-to-one mentorship and facilitated peer support spaces, participants are offered a place to ask questions, share experiences, and feel less alone. Support is inclusive of partners and support people and is designed to honor diverse family structures, identities, and lived experiences.
The Perinatal Mentorship & Peer Support Program helps strengthen confidence, reduce isolation, and foster a sense of community throughout pregnancy and early parenting.
Community Perinatal Resource Fair & Baby Showers
Family Resource Navigation & Advocacy
ROBWI supports families in identifying, accessing, and navigating perinatal and early childhood resources within their communities. This program helps reduce confusion and overwhelm by offering guidance, connection, and advocacy rooted in trust and relationship.
Through warm referrals and individualized support, families are connected to healthcare, social services, and community-based resources that meet their needs. Support is provided with an understanding of the barriers families may face, particularly in rural settings, and is grounded in cultural humility and trauma-informed care.
The Family Resource Navigation & Advocacy program helps families move through systems with greater clarity, confidence, and support, ensuring they are not navigating complex pathways alone.
Care Coordination & Continuity Support
ROBWI develops and implements community-based perinatal resource fairs and baby showers designed to connect families with education, services, and material support in welcoming, accessible spaces. These events are created in partnership with local organizations, providers, and community leaders to reflect the unique needs and strengths of each community.
Our resource fairs use a relationship-centered, dignity-focused approach that combines practical support with education and connection. Families engage with local resources, learn about pregnancy, postpartum, early childhood development, and parenting topics, and access essential items in a supportive, non-stigmatizing environment.

Training, Mentorship & Professional Development.
ROBWI provides education, mentorship, and professional development for doulas and community providers committed to serving families across rural Oklahoma. Our programs are grounded in trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and real-world practice, with an emphasis on sustainability, ethical care, and continuity of care.
Through hands-on training, guided mentorship, and ongoing learning opportunities, we prepare a skilled, supported workforce that understands the realities of rural systems and the importance of relationship-centered care. Participants gain practical tools for serving families, navigating documentation and billing systems, and building sustainable roles within their communities.
These programs strengthen the perinatal workforce while ensuring families receive informed, consistent, and compassionate care over time.

ROBWI offers a comprehensive, trauma-informed doula training designed specifically for rural Oklahoma communities. This program prepares participants to provide ethical, relationship centered support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, with a strong emphasis on cultural humility and real-world application.
Training includes core perinatal education, hands-on skill development, and preparation to serve families navigating systemic and access barriers. Participants are supported in understanding scope of practice, documentation, and professional standards.
ROBWI provides scholarships and financial support to reduce barriers to training professional development for individuals rooted in the communities they serve. This program prioritizes equity, access, and lived experience.
Scholarship recipients commit to serving families in rural and underserved communities, with an emphasis on serving families with SoonerCare. This helps ensure that training investments directly strengthen local capacity and access to care.
ROBWI offers training for professionals and community organizations serving people who are pregnant or in the postpartum year, along with their families. These trainings are grounded in trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and an understanding of rural systems.
Topics may include perinatal mental health, supporting families navigating barriers to care, and strengthening cross-disciplinary collaboration. Trainings are designed to be practical, accessible, and responsive to community needs.

Rural Equity & Access Initiative
ROBWI partners with colleges and universities to engage students in meaningful perinatal and early childhood work rooted in community connection and real-world experience. This project supports students who are interested in careers in maternal health, early childhood development, mental health, and community-based care.
Through practicum placements, volunteer opportunities, and guided community involvement, students gain hands-on experience while going contributing to programs that directly support families. This approach strengthens the future workforce while fostering an understanding of rural systems, trauma-informed care, and relationship-centered practice.
The workforce pipeline Project helps ensure that communities are supported by professionals who are trained, prepared, and rooted in the places they serve.
ROBWI creates practical, trauma-informed tools designed to support families, doulas, and providers across pregnancy, postpartum, and early childhood development. These resources translate evidence-informed concepts into accessible, usable tools that can be applied in everyday settings.
Toolkits and materials are developed with a focus on nervous system regulation, informed decision making, physical comfort, and emotional support. Resources are designed to be culturally responsive, easy to understand, and adaptable to a range of community contexts.
This project supports consistency of care, shared language among providers and families, and increased confidence in navigating pregnancy, birth, and early parenting.
The Rural Equity & Access Initiative addresses the systemic barriers faced by families living in rural communities, including limited healthcare access, geographic isolation, and the ongoing impact of historical and intergenerational trauma.
Through equity centered program design, trauma-aware community engagement, and partnership-driven education, ROBWI works to strengthen access to support and improve continuity of care for rural families. This initiative informs how all ROBWI programs are developed and implemented, ensuring they reflect the realities of rural life rather that urban-based assumptions.
By focusing on systems-level understanding and collaboration, this initiative supports long-term change while honoring the strengths, resilience, and lived experiences of rural communities.
